#15 Gotta get 'em all

The Filthy events have some rather unusual names. Created by the Director of Filthy, if we had released the names alone could you have guessed the movements involved?

This is going to be like a little trivia journey through Filthy.

Did you figure any of them out?

D-Couplet… an ode to Darina, without whom none of this would be possible. A force to be reckoned with, minder of the Irish CrossFit community, holder of the purse strings, spender of the bosses cash!

Galen… One of the first proponents of Rope Climbs was Galen - who is considered the first 'Private Trainer' and coached many Olympic athletes for competition. Rope climbing was once an Olympic Sport. It was part of the Olympic Games between 1896-1936 and was then abandoned.

Spinning Catherine… A firework named after St Catherine of Alexandria, who was condemned to death by “breaking on a wheel”. Will those double unders have you spinning like a wheel?

Sisyphus… A greek God punished to push a large rock up a big hill for all eternity. I guess you’ll know what that feels like at the end of this event

Team Reek… The reek is the nickname of Croagh Patrick, a mountain located in the West of Ireland, its so perfectly triangular, it looks like you could ski down it.

Machine… Well oiled and in sync, get after it!

Dunbars Breakdown… an ode to the meaning of Filthy 150. 150 reps broken down into smaller pieces of torture. Want to read where our name came from? check out our blog here

Creeping Barrage… First used at the Battle of the Somme, a Creeping Barrage was a tactic that involved artillery fire moving forward in stages just ahead of the advancing infantry. To work, the strategy required precise timing by both the heavy artillery and the infantry. Failure to do this would result in the artillery killing their own soldiers. Move through this event with the same tactics, stay ahead!

Sauron…Yup Lord of the Rings reference. Translates as Abomination from Tolkien's invented language of Quenya. Doesnt bode well really, now does it?

Entente… the understanding between Britain and France reached in 1904, forming the basis of Anglo-French cooperation in the First World War. You are going to have to reach your own Entente to get your team through this…

And there you have it…

Now get your team entente sorted and reek it down to the floor and get crankshafted!
